Northeastern State University's main campus is located in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, with additional campuses in Muskogee and Broken Arrow. As the capital of the Cherokee Nation, Tahlequah provides a unique cultural backdrop for the university. A significant portion of the student body identifies as American Indian, and NSU offers a variety of courses focused on Native American linguistics, including Cherokee language education with some classes taught in Cherokee.
