The University of North Texas's main campus resides in Denton, north of the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Its 963 acres are split between academic buildings and athletic facilities, with a separate research park located a few miles north. As a large public university, UNT has a diverse student body and is recognized for its high level of research activity. Students can participate in a range of NCAA Division I athletics as well as campus traditions associated with the Mean Green.
